By Al Sylvestre
Blake Wheeler has heads turning in his first season in the NNHL. With 5 goals and 7 assists, the Boston winger is already averaging a point per game in his first 12 career NNHL games. Most impressive is the fact that he's only a 3rd liner on a very strong Boston squad. If his play keeps up, you can not only expect Wheeler to be a future star in the NNHL, but he may also have his name on the Stanley Cup in the near future.
Meanwhile, in the NNJHL, John Tavares is leading a strong group of rookies looking to raise their stock for the first ever NNHL Entry Draft. With 4 goals and 1 assist, Tavares not only leads all NNJHL rookies in point production, but he is one of the best players in the entire league. With the New York Islanders in the middle of a 13-game losing streak to open the season, and GM Sylvestre intending to make a run for the 1st overall pick, chances are Tavares could end up centering Nikita Filatov and Kyle Okposo on the Islanders roster next season.
Other notable rookies include: - Matt Duchene (NNJHL) 2 goals, 2 assists in 5 games played - Chris Kreider (NNJHL) 2 goals, 2 assists in 5 games played - Michael Frolik (NNHL) 5 goals, 4 assists in 10 games played - Kris Versteeg (NNHL) 1 goal, 8 assists in 13 games played

Great article Al.
I think it would be neat to part way through the season, do a rating of top prospects and top draft eligible players.
