We have had one dissappointing season so far. We feel that with our defence we should be running the show or atleast being in the playoffs. With a defence composed of Streit, Robidas, Hejda, Kaberle, Tyutin and Russell and Steve Mason posting impressive numbers we should be on top.
However the offence has been attrocious and it starts with Rick Nash this season. Only Tyutin and Hejda have played more minutes and he can only put up 41 points in 53 games. We got him a playmaking center in Koivu who lighted it up early, but has slowed down tremendously since then. Huselius is teh other big name who has dissappointed with only 38 points in 53 games. These are supposed to be the go-to-guys for Columbus and they haven't done much to prove their worth. Thankfully Petr Sykora and Antionne Vermette have been playing above their expectations and carried to load so far, something that must change.
A strange thing is that Columbus has a better Goals For vs Goals Against ratio than all the teams in the conference except for the divisonal leaders. This only means that the Blue Jackets lose a lot of close games, something that will need to change if teh team is to make the playoffs.
Management is looking to acquire another top 6 forward for a push for the playoffs, something that can be considered a risky move, but are the Blue Jackets really supposed to be this low? I say no, therefore if a move can be made, it will be made as teh youth is still in the line-up and draft picks are expendable for the current time.
A better back-up may be anopther option as Kolzig's 1-6 record gives no reason for him to play another game all season.
Hopefully the Blue Jackets can step it up or things will be shaken up in the off-season.
*if there are typos or mistakes my bad, but im not reading it over lol
